Labor's plan to get vaccine rollout back on track and support St George economy

Labor’s plan to get the vaccine rollout back on track: It’s time to vaccinate St George and support our economy

Statistics released by the Morrison Government show that South West Sydney has the lowest rate of vaccine take up, and he has no plan to fix it.

South West Sydney has the lowest per centage of people over the age of 15 with their first dose, and only 16.1 per cent of residents have received their second dose.

To assist vaccine take-up and stimulate the St George economy, Federal Labor is calling on the Morrison Government to roll up its sleeves in the race to vaccinate the St George area and provide a one-off $300 payment to every fully-vaccinated Australian.

This support would be a further incentive for St George to be fully vaccinated and would deliver a much-needed shot in the arm for businesses, workers and families struggling from lockdowns made necessary by the Morrison Government’s failures with the vaccine rollout.

Federal Labor MP today called for on the Morrison Government to stop neglecting the people of St George, prioritise measures to vaccinate more in St George and introduce a $300 payment to every person who is fully vaccinated by 1 December.

Linda Burney said:

“I have been contacted by many anxious residents, workers and businesses who have lost work and business.

“Scott Morrison repeatedly said it’s not a race and the residents of St George are paying the price.

“The truth is is that Scott Morrison had two jobs: rollout the vaccine and establish quarantine facilities.

“His failures have caused Sydney to fall back into a second lockdown.

“Our proposed payments will deliver significant cash stimulus for St George businesses which have paid the price for Scott Morrison’s abject failures.”
