MEDIA RELEASE: TIMELY REDRESS ESSENTIAL

Survivors of institutional child sexual abuse deserve to have their applications for redress processed quickly and accurately.

Reports today that a survivor has died while waiting for redress is a reminder of why this is so important.

Media reports also suggest that the Government lost his application.

At this time, our thoughts are with his family and friends.

To institutions who have not signed up to the scheme - you have a moral responsibility to do so immediately.

And the government must make sure applications are processed properly, and in a timely manner.

Survivors have been through so much and have waited so long.

It is absolutely imperative that we get the roll out of National Redress Scheme right.
