BUDGET 2023: Delivering For Barton

The Albanese Labor Government’s 2023/24 Budget locks in significant benefits for Barton with families and businesses set to see cost-of-living support flow.

 Cost of living support:

  • Cheaper Childcare for 7,100 families in Barton from 1 July 2023.

  • Cheaper Medicines for 35,912 people in Barton who will be able to buy two months’ worth of medicine for the price of a single prescription (capped at $30) for more than 300 PBS medicines.

  • $500 Energy bill rebate for 1.6 million households in NSW.

 Support for those that it the most:

  • 6,425 people in Barton who will receive $40 per fortnight increases to JobSeeker, Austudy and Youth Allowance payments.

  • 300 Jobseeker recipients in Barton, aged 55 to 59, who have been receiving the payment for nine or more continuous months, will receive $92.10 more per fortnight.

  • 245 single parents in Barton will receive the Parenting Payment until their youngest child turns 14, up from eight-years-old.

  • 6,050 local households eligible for Maximum Commonwealth Rent Assistance rates will receive $31.36 extra per fortnight.

Delivering for small businesses:

  • A temporary increase to the instant asset write-off threshold to $20,000 for 1.18 million small businesses in New South Wales.

  • $650 electricity bill relief for 322,000 small businesses who meet the definition of an ‘electricity small customer’.

  • Introduction of a Small Business Energy Incentive to provide a temporary bonus 20 per cent tax deduction for expenditure up to $100,000 to help businesses electrify and improve energy efficiency.
